This Peruvian Farmer Grows Over 400 Varieties of Potatoes…

Stayed for two nights with a potato farmer on an island in the middle of Lake Titicaca about 6 years back. For breakfast there were a variety of potatoes, and at lunch a few more types. But at dinner there were many many potatoes and a few leafy things. They also farmed guinea pigs but did not eat them, rather sold were sold to pricey restaurants on the mainland. We were desparately hungry for protein by the time our large straw pleasure raft shoved off for other tourist centers.
