Freedom From Religion…

  1. The Romans expanded under a regime of religious toleration. It is a better way to raise an Empire, if you think an empire is a good thing to raise. Religious tolerance is valuable to a society but is no guarantor of justice. Besides, it misses the point that to whatever extent there are sincere intolerant religious absolutist they would not be a serious problem if they were not being used by cynical elements. I don’t see us having a religious tolerance problem as such acting as as an independent issue. The issue is always the desire of the upper-out-of-sight folks to encourage those of us down here to fight with each other and cancel the threat of unity and social peace amongst the throng. Religious intolerance works so well that way.
