Thanks so much for this, Dave. When I was 19 (circa 1968) and on the cusp of dropping out of college, the Ed Hawkins Singers came to UC Santa Cruz and performed on a dazzling sunlit day in the quarry amphitheater. When they began Oh Happy Day, and Dorothy Morrison made her humble way to the microphone and proceeded to blow our little minds open with her amazing voice, that heavenly choir thundering and whispering behind her, I was confirmed in my decision to leave school and surrender to the mystical nature of life.
Thanks Dave, we needed that. It made Marlene dance and both of us cry.
